A bit about me...

I am married to one great man and together we have three beautiful children. Isabella is 4, Hannah is 3 and Isaiah is 18mths. Having had three wee ones in 3.5yrs, I know all about being a mama run off her feet. The most demanding job I have had to date but by far the most rewarding!

I worked as a Physiotherapist pre babies but at the moment my husband and I are in process developing and preparing to lauch a new business - 'pure mama'. the web site is still in development phase, but we are on facebook - http://www.facebook.com/puremama

Being a mumpreneur is exciting and I am enjoying the challenges that starting a business I am truly passionate about brings. I am looking forward to learning from those of you who have been there before me!

birth, midwives & the media

I wrote this in 2006, just re-read it myself and thought it might generate discussion...

Have been thinking about the way midwives are getting trashed in the media at the moment in NZ. I was pretty frustrated after watching 60 minutes on TV3 last monday at the biased & factually incorrect information that was being relayed to mr & ms general public. They had two tragic cases of babies who had died during childbirth and whom had midwives as their LMC's (that's lead maternity carers). 60m… Continue

what I was doing exactly one year ago...

As I write this I remember exactly what I was doing - I was 20mins away from meeting our beautiful wee boy. What a beautiful birth it was, I have such sweet memories of it (Funny that because the first few days after I swore I would never do it again!). But I would do it all again for my sweet boy...

Letters on the mirror

I just had my shower - a part of my nightly bed routine. When i pulled away the shower curtain, looking back at me was the letter A and a few others carefully scrawled in childs handwriting on the bottom of our bathroom mirror... and I smiled...

Pre-children I was NEVER a neat freak. Cleaning is not my thing. I like things looking nice and being clean, I just never spent ages keeping things that way. I would generally spend the week living in our home doing the basics and the house would become… Continue

Hi Vania, Thanks for the welcome. Our business which we launched 12 weeks ago and is called Birth to Earth; our product is the 'Capceco' Biodegradable Placenta capsule. A what I hear you say..... 'Capceco' is 100% Biodegradable whcih means that when it comes time to plant your placenta under your child's birth tree there is no need to defrost or unpack the placenta. The whole pack gets planted breaking down in 6 to 8 weeks.

We also have a keepsake book that tells your child the story of their tree and how good it is for the environment. There is also a space torecord what tree and where it was planted. Check out our website www.birthtoearth.com for more info. How is Pure Mama going? Liesje

Hi Vania,

Sorry - it def was not the Magic Beans card, as I gave away six when there was only five, but they were nice enough to give me another.

I think it must have been a dress up voucher, as it is the only prize left!

Well, I coach women (it just so happens most of my clients are entrepreneurial) on many different topics.
Sometimes it is about the business - how to make more money, have more time, working ON their biz not IN it and then sometimes it's more personal - they don't feel supported enough from their partner, they want to lose weight, they want to be a better mum.
I love it - anything to do with helping women move forward and help create happier lives is my passion!
I hope that's answered your question?

hey babe,
hope your week is going well and that Isabella has settled back into kindy ok. I was looking at wedding photos the other day and came across us one of us with you and Reuben and a very little Bella - so cute, and she is wearing little pink booties that we are borrowing from you which currently fit Emily. I can't believe she will be starting school soon! Will see you on the weekend no doubt but it would be great to do a 'proper' catch up sometime soon. Arohanui
