Hiya I am mummy to Jacob, or Jakey/Mr Bubbles/Mr Giggles affectionately :) Jakey is now nearly 10 months OH MY, born 22nd August 2008. Parenthood is challenging and rewarding, I have had a few miscarriages and was told I could never hold a child in womb, SO to me, my little mircale JAKEY is now here and thriving. I now suffer from PND, but I am getting through, Jakey is my glue and my creativity is blooming because of him :) Hullo and heartfelt compassion to all.

Lol nosy little things. I hate hearing her scream, I feel like such a bad mum. But my Plunket nurse told me once that it's good for babies to scream every now and then. Something about them communicating etc. Natalie is only 5months and also very good at throwing tantrums. Although I must say the last 3 weeks she's been heaps better and much more content to just play. They tell me it gets better :) hehe

Hi debbs, I'm in Auckland. I totaly have those days too, where I'm like I can't do this anymore and just want to cry because it breaks my heart to hear her scream soooo much. My child is very good at throwing a tantrum and shes only 4 months old! I've been trying the whole leaving her in her cot and cry herself to sleep...does work, but like you say I have to walk away and do something else to distract me. Must be a girl thing because Chloe is the same...she's tired but won't go to sleep, scared she might miss out on something in the world.

Hey Melissa. I understand. I've been alone since just before finding out I was pregnant. Sometimes she won't stop crying and it's hard. I had a break through today. I left her in her cot crying, she was sleepy but didn't want to sleep. So I had a shower and completely ignored her. Afterwards I was much more chilled out, she'd had a good scream. We had a little hug, I put her back down and 5 mins later she was fast asleep. The same theory works with having someone else take her or watch her for an hour while I calm down. We're all here for you and I'm sure we've all had these moments. I know I have had plenty. I've rung my brother and best friend in tears a few times each asking them to take my girl for a few hours coz I just need a break. Where abouts in NZ are you?

Hello mummies :)
I'm a first time mum to a little girl called Chloe who was born 11 October 2008. So far parenthood wasn't what I expected, I guess it's been made even harder that me and my baby's daddy are no longer together. For me Chloe is awesome I wouldn't trade her in for the world. But I do have those days where I'm like...why did I do this? It's hard when she cries and theres nothing I can do to make it better....
Alicia and Finn Comment by Alicia and Finn on January 13, 2009 at 9:47pm
Hi new mums! I'm Alicia and currently live in Hokitika, West Coast. We had our first child, Finn, 13 December at home and it will be great to be able to talk to other first timers! My in-laws are back home now and partner back at work so it feels a bit strange being home alone with Finn.
