Are you doing anything?  We're taking the kids to the Waikato museum in hamilton, they have a whole day planned from 11-4pm with storytellers, facing painting etc and a free ferry going across the river to the park on the other side.  Hope the weather stays like this................

We have had a lovely day at Ferrymead Heritage Park in Christchurch - I would recommend it to anyone who is visiting the area :o)

I hope you have all had a fun day, whatever you have done.

We went to a kids gymnastic seesion - both my kids absolutely loved it, so we are considering going to classes there now, and then we went to a fair thing at the park which was fun ( but costly - merry go round rides and mini jeeps) but it was a great day!!

I am so embarrassed did not realise it was children's day. We did however take our one to the park with visiting family and go for a train ride. We then visited friends. He had a great day with us all.

I did not even realise it was children's day either but we had been planning this outing for months. We went to Glenbrook Railway for Thomas Day. I am glad we gave up our Sunday morning lie in and arrived at 9.30am, it was packed by 11am. It cost $40 for a family, entry was free so you could have a look around and leave if it was not for you. The $40 included facepainting, plaster cast painting, colouring in, storytelling and two different train rides. We took a picnic last nights left over roast chicken with roast vege salad it was fabulous and free! Both my girls loved it even the eight month old. Unfortunately it did not wear my four year old out and she was still bouncing around our lounge at 7pm wanting to skype everyone to tell them about her adventure with Tommy.

Childrens Day kind of inspired me - I took my 3yr old son and 8mth old daughter to Rainbow Springs in Rotorua after watching husband finish the half marathon and it was lovely. Really makes me think that we don't do enough nice thing with them and I/we need to make more of an effort to "create" memories for them - free or not. And I want to start a journal for each of them with stories about these days.

Sounds like everyone had a great day. The museum in hamilton was buzzing with people and the kids had a ball although our mr 4 is a runner so everytime we turned around he was gone! I swear we're going to go grey before our time. Something we did last year with all three kids and I'd like to do this year is we had dates with each child I took Miss 1 to the zoo for the day, Mr 7 I took to mini golf then hamilton gardens for the day and mr 4 I took to claudelands for the waikato show then for a bike ride. I think I almost enjoyed the day more than they did, it's so rare to get one on one time.

Ha ha our son went to a kids day service at our church with his Aunty. They fed him up on lollies and junk, and then ran them ragged - not surprising he walked in the door threw up and went to bed! Oh yeah a good day!
