Warning......we found going from 2 to 3 kids turned our lives into a circus with no ring master just two clowns to run it! We'd never change having our third but boy is it busier.

We have a holden commidore station wagon, and it is great! I love my car and it fits three seats across the back.

i've had 3 in the back seat of mine Nyk. Mason, another forward facing toddler and a baby rear facing in between. Fine as long as no one needed too much personal space...! Oh, that's a CRV, which i love for the rear space for buggies, bikes, home birth kits, the odd peice of furniture...

I was wondering if congratulations were in order when I saw this too Nyk!

We have two cars, a Mazda 3 which would definitely NOT fit three seats (well, it probably would to be honest if the seats were small enough, but we have issues with how far the front seats can be pushed back... me and my short legs always have to drive!), and a Holden Commodore that would no probs...

I assume both of your two would be front facing already? You could probably find a capsule to fit in the middle, you'd just have to try out a few...

If you really want to know, contact the guys at Child Restraints NZ - they're local to you :) http://www.childrestraints.co.nz/carseat.php

we have a nissan avenir station wagon and fit 3 seats just recently when my sister was visiting - but it was a squeeze! I definitely think it depends on what seats you have. our reversable car seat is quite wide so takes up alot of room so if you have a slim one might be easier? or just a capsule? also whether you need 3 tethers, we have a booster with harness for our 2 yr old now so only needs the seat belt...

thanks for all your feedback! Nicky, the Avenir was on my shortlist. Quite reasonably priced for a big car.
Jodi - I will check out that website.

Hi, we have a Ford Falcon and it fits three car seats across the back. I try to purchase car seats that have a three point clip in the front rather than trying to squeeze your hand inbetween the car seats each time (thats enough to drive you nuts!!)

Honda Odyssey or as we call it the Loser Cruiser as there is nothing sexy about it... it just proves I once had a sex life! Ha ha
But seriously my sister just got the Holden Captiva and we took on their old Odyssey and she is always commenting on how there is so much more room in the Odyssey and that once you have the back seats up in the rear of the Captiva you can't fit in a pram.

hey nyk, i have a 94 holden commodore and i can easily fit three car seats in the back plus all the shopping with push chair in the boot :) we have a very rare 6 seater holden commodore, it has a fold up bench seat in the front and is colum change automatic. its great for when one of the kids has a friend over too (not in a car seat tho). its not to bad on petrol can be a bit of a guzzler if its not kept above half full but we took it mangawhai over christmas and spent 60 dollars in gas there and back :) hope that helps :)

we have a lucida as well.

We only have 2 kids but if you add to that all the stuff I have to cart back and forth each week to their nanas and poppas I blardy need something this big, LMAO!

Also pretty good when you do your bulk shop as a family (when you have to) as you can fold up the back seats and just chuck everything in.

I don't need to fold down the double buggy either - sometimes they can be a real pain in the whoop whoop so just chuck that in the back.
