I have a 98 Nissan Primera wagon and it definitely DOES NOT fit the 3 seats! My fiend has a Caldina much the same age and she has 3 seats in the back of that.....
We have a Ford Fairmont and it fits 3 carseats quite comfortably across the back seat, my brother in law has a Holden Commodore and that also fits 3 carseats across the back easily. Now I know what you're thinking oh lord they're expensive cars to run, but ours is a straight 6 and actually very economical on gas as we drive it nicely, and also easy to find 2nd hand parts for if and when something goes wrong.
good luck
You can't beat a Honda Odyssey - not such a glam car, and not the most expensive option.....but loved it cos not only cos I could fit three car seats EASILY! (and get into the back without having to get out in the rain), you can choose to either have three in the middle row, or some in the back row but as they get older its so versatile - can fit 6 kids for fun an parties, and have even managed to get 2 16 inch bikes (one with trainers), two scoooters AND a 24 inch bike in the back for a trip to the park!! Lots of space and seat combos! Good luck!
I'm not sure what happened there,
Toyota Caldian 2003
does not fit 3 car seats in the back.
I have a great car, but....If you have a booster, and a carseat, then its not comfortable for a 3rd passenger without a car seat either. Putting on that 3rd safety belt is a mission!!! Just as well we are a family of 4 with a dog! Its a pain when freinds or cousins come along for a journey

having 4 kids we invested in the good old van!! hahaha.
We have a Toyota Lucida which is roomy and economical and cheap to run and replace parts for.
We also have a Nissan largo 8 seater as well.
When you have a small tribe you find that you suddenly have "extras" as the kids gather there own small tribes of friends and start to play sports.
Both vans convert into a double bed when all the seats are laid down, which is handy on long trips away.
A friend told me today that the Safe n Sound car seat called Compaq is good for getting three into small cars! so may just need to re think the car seat purchases and not the car!
We have a Toyota Surf and it fits three across the back and has the BIIIIIG boot/back area for all the crap as well as the dogs and (this was the winner for us and the entire reason we were looking for one of these) the back/boot window winds down so the dogs have their own window to slobber out of. hehe
