Age of first Period??

My daughter is only 8 years old, but my friends and I with daughters of similar age have been discussing recently how old we were when we got our first period, and how old our girls will be. I would be interested to hear other peoples experience on this. I am pretty sure I was only 10, and assume my daughter will be about the same. Has anyone here had daughters who have had theirs extremely young? Has the new generation started earlier than we did?? Your thoughts please..

However, I have a 12 yr old who looks like she is a wee away from getting it yet ... that is, I am comparing her physical growth to her sisters when she got her period. I am assuming that once one has started developing physically then their period comes some time soon after that. Obviously this is not a hard & fast rule, but seems to be the case with my daughters & other family members.; ▶ Reply to This
